Memo
To the CCMHA Players, Families, Coaches, and Community,
Recent reports from within the broader hockey community involving allegations of inappropriate and harmful behaviour have been deeply troubling to hear. While these reported incidents did not occur within CCMHA, we recognize the significant impact they can have on those directly affected, their families, and everyone connected to youth sport. Our thoughts are with all individuals and communities working through the effects of these events.
Moments like this remind us of the responsibility we share in creating an environment where young athletes feel safe, respected, and supported. CCMHA’s commitment to a positive sport culture is long?standing, and we want to reaffirm that commitment today. Hazing, harassment, abuse, bullying, discrimination, and any behaviour that compromises the well?being of our athletes have no place within our association.
Our Commitment to Safe Sport
CCMHA continues to strengthen and reinforce Safe Sport practices including:
-
Clear and consistent expectations for conduct across all teams
-
Firm policies and consequences addressing misconduct
-
Mandatory education for coaches, volunteers, and team staff
-
Confidential and accessible reporting pathways for players and families
-
Transparent and timely follow?up when concerns arise
Youth sport should be a place where athletes build confidence, learn teamwork, and feel a strong sense of belonging. We are grateful for the ongoing efforts of our players, coaches, volunteers, and families who help uphold a safe and respectful environment every day. Your commitment ensures that every CCMHA athlete can enjoy the game in a community grounded in care, accountability, and integrity.
Thank you for your continued support and for working with us to protect a culture where every player feels safe and valued.
